LEGAL ASSISTANCE & SAFETY
Office of Public Guardian and Elder Rights
The office of the Public Guardian for Elderly Adults makes legal, financial and healthcare decision for individuals aged 60 and older who have been determined by a Superior Court judge to be incapacitated. The office also administers the Adult Protective Services Program.
Senior citizens - individuals 60 and over - are targeted more frequently by financial fraud and scams than any other age group. The 'Anti-Fraud' Toolkit" was designed to provide senior citizens with the information they need to recognize and avoid scams. Published by the New Jersey Division of Consumer Affairs.
LSNJ coordinates the statewide Legal Services system, which provides free legal assistance to low-income New Jerseyans for their civil legal problems.

Low Income Home Energy Assistance (LIHEAP)
The Home Energy Assistance Program helps very low-income residents with their heating and cooling bills, and makes provisions for emergency heating system services and emergency fuel assistance within the Home Energy Assistance Program.

The Senior Gold Prescription Discount Program (Senior Gold) is a state funded prescription program with a different co-payment structure and income eligibility guidelines than those of PAAD.
